Set fixed amount cashback

PreviousConfigure Order GoalsNextSet percentage casback

Last updated 12 days ago

Offer your customers a fixed cashback incentive on their purchases β€” simple, predictable, and effective in driving conversions and retention. Here's a full walkthrough of how this feature works in your app and how you can use it

What is Fixed Amount Cashback?

Fixed amount cashback means your customers receive a flat cashback value for each eligible product or line item in their order.

For example:

  • If you offer $10 cashback, and the customer buys 3 eligible items, they get $30 total cashback β€” regardless of the product price.

Setting It Up

You can configure this in your app by heading to Cashback Settings. Here’s what you’ll do:

Step-by-Step:

  1. Go to "Configure Cashback Settings"

  2. Under Config #, select:

    • Cashback Type: Fixed Amount

    • Cashback Amount: e.g., $10

  3. Choose who gets the cashback using:

    • Customer Tags (optional)

  4. Under Applies To, choose:

    • All Products

    • Specific Collections

    • Specific Products

You can create multiple configurations to target different sets of products or customer segments.

🧠 How Does It Work?

Fixed Cashback on All Products

  • Every item in the cart gets the fixed cashback.

  • Global settings are used (like shipping inclusion/exclusion, base on order total / subtotal etc.)

Example:

  • Customer buys 3 items β†’ $10 cashback per item β†’ Total: $30 cashback

Global settings are setting that you can configure on the Settings page of the app. Here it means "Base Cashback On" and "Include shipping costs when calculating cashback" setting in particular.

Fixed Cashback on Specific Collections / Products

  • Cashback only applies to the items from the selected collection(s) or product(s).

  • Global settings are ignored for these configs.

  • Other items in the cart don’t receive cashback.

Example:

  • $10 cashback only for Collection A

  • Customer buys 2 items from Collection A β†’ Total: $20 cashback

What If There Are Multiple Cashback Rules?

If multiple cashback configurations apply (e.g., one for "All Products" and another for a specific collection), the system will apply the best matching config per line item.

The best applicable cashback is calculated and applied per item in the user’s cart.

This ensures the customer always gets the correct reward without stacking or duplicating benefits.

Global Settings (For β€œAll Products” configs only⚠️)

You can also fine-tune how cashback is calculated using the global cashback settings (not used in product-specific configs). Options include:

  • Include Shipping in cashback calculations

  • Calculate from order total or subtotal (before taxes/shipping)

Tips to Use Fixed Amount Cashback Effectively

  • πŸ› Encourage bulk purchases: Customers get more cashback for more items.

  • 🎯 Target collections: Boost sales of slow-moving or seasonal collections.

  • πŸ‘₯ Reward specific customer groups: Use tags to offer cashback to loyal or high-value customers.

  • πŸ§ͺ A/B test cashback amounts: Try different fixed cashback values for different collections and see what drives conversions.

  • 🧾 Use with expiration: Create urgency by setting cashback offers to expire in a set number of days.

Examples

Example 1 β€” All Products

  • Fixed cashback: $10

  • Customer buys:

    • Product A (x2)

    • Product B (x1)

    • Product C (x3)

  • Total cashback: 6 items Γ— $10 = $60

Example 2 β€” Specific Collection

  • Fixed cashback: $10 for Collection A

  • Customer buys:

    • Product A (from Collection A) x2

    • Product B (not from Collection A) x1

    • Product C (from Collection A) x3

  • Total cashback: (2 + 3) items from Collection A = 5 Γ— $10 = $50

Fixed amount and Percentage types can be setup together as part of your config. In cases where there is overlap the better reward is offered to the customer.
